Modular Grid Compositions

These compositions introduced me to the modular grid system and the history of Swiss style graphic design. Through utilization of the grid, we created three compositions, one entirely type based, and two with type and image.

Our compositions had to include 3 facts, a tagline, a hashtag, and an informational paragraph about the design style.

All of our information had to work with the grid unless a break was completely intentional. I found that working with a 16×16 grid instead of an 8×8 grid allowed my information and compositions to work more effectively.

For our last composition, we also made a version using the RISO printer, reducing our designs to two colors and halftone dots.

This led to my images needing to change slightly, both being manually reduced to halftone dots, and the bottom image changing entirely to allow for image clarity.
